Positive Reinforcement

It's funny how the brain works sometimes.  Positive reinforcement is powerful tool - especially when your are rewarded for bad behavior.  I watch people in NYC day after day fork over money to people performing bad behaviors.

If I lay in the middle of the street everyday with no plans for progression, will you reward me too?  If I sluggishness stoop from subway car to subway car bumping into people and telling people the same stories day after day, will you also reward me?

Makes me wonder what positive reinforcement for GOOD behavior results in. Lets find out.

Failure Is Not An Option - Or Is It?

I remember my principal in high school getting on the intercom every morning saying "Failure is not an option"

Crazy to look back on that now - I almost feel we were brainwashed. "Do the same - keep the status quo - stay the same as everyone else" I almost feel he was insinuating. They made us scared to fail, as though it was a bad thing.

I dare to say - you were wrong Mr. principal, you were very very wrong. This is why we are here - simply to fail.

Failure = Opportunity

If we are always afraid to fail, we will never get anything done, we'll never take chances. The model T would have never been built if Henry Ford was afraid to fail because it was "not an option." The Google's and Apple's of of the world would have never been built if Steve Jobs and Bill Gates didn't find failure an option.

So get out there, take chances, make mistakes, learn from them and don't be afraid of failure. Bring it on in fact! Because, failure is plenty, in a world full of so much opportunity, when you are not scared of it.  So, get out there and do (and fail and try again) - because one day you WILL succeed!
